Fanfic - 380 days

[info]auronlu has already read it and I'll like to thank her for helping me to correct my mistakes! ^^

She didn't know how long has she spent standing out here in the rain, staring blankly to the direction of Guadosalem, the Farplane. She needed privacy and has forbidden Wakka to follow her with a glare before she exited the Al Bhed inn.

However, she didn't mind the company of the silent guardian when Auron followed her out a few moments later. She still need someone to be by her side afterall, but she doesn't need someone like Wakka or Tidus or anyone who would make meaningless conversations. Auron would not speak much unless necesaary and she appreciated it.

"When my parents died, one of the elders in the village had a long talk with me on the process to accepting deaths in life."

"Process?" Auron asked as he turned slightly to look at the mage standing beside him.

Lulu moved her hands and rested them on her chest as she tilted her head a little, "First comes the shock, confusion and denial. Second comes the anger, then sadness. And finally acceptance."

She breathed in heavily and let out a long sigh as she tore her gaze away from the direction of the Guadosalem and looked down onto the wet floor.

"I guess I have been in the anger stage for all these time when Chappu died, while Wakka stayed in the denial stage."

Auron moved closer to her and placed his gloved hand onto her shoulder, gripping it gently.

The rain had become heavier and both of them were soaked, with water flowing down Lulu's face, Auron could not make out if she had cried. Maybe that was why she felt the need to stand in the rain.

"How long has it been?"

"...... Three hundred and eighty days." Lulu closed her eye as she said it, she let loose of her crossed arms across her chest and moved one to gently grabbed onto Auron's sleeve, asking for approval in silence. Before Auron could respond to her, she moved away.

"I'm sorry, Sir Auron. I will be alright."

Auron let his hand slipped to her back and held her closer to him, "... You have waited three hundred and eighty days to cry. Do it, and move on."

An expression which he had never seen appear on her face crept over her, and she looked up to the wise warrior with a face telling how much she had endured all these while to stay strong. She had learnt to toughen herself through the painful process of growing up in the land full of deaths, with her stern features relaxed, a smile came.

She rested her head against Auron as she let out choked cries as softly as she could, while he placed his hand on the back of her head and his head lowered, buried in her massive black raven hair as a silent comfort.

"Thank you."

I liked this.

Perhaps I'm weird, but I like seeing Lulu brought down to human levels of discomfort.

It's very real.

Thank you!

Maybe its because I added in some personal experience into the story so in some ways it seems more real.

I very much liked it too! I think it also gave me the much needed boost for the scenes I'm trying to write for my next chapter that is similar in its basis.

What a very comforting story. The way they hugged and how it all took place while it was raining was a nice touch.
